    Ngwenya Lodge has been experiencing some difficulties with the water quality in the internal dams on
    the resort, as a result of the current climatic circumstances.

Due to drought, the water levels in the area are low and this has altered the nutrient makeup of the water. Concentrated levels of Nitrogen and Phosphorus, together with sunshine and heat, result in the natural creation of algae. The dam at Le Fera Restaurant has been affected by a severe algae bloom.

Chemical pre-treatment of the water has many draw backs and typically results in further eco-system damage. Consequently, Ngwenya Lodge management has undertaken an "ecological" approach to dealing with the Algae bloom challenge.

Ngwenya has teamed up with Mc Clean – a company that specialises in "green" solutions, to ensure the algae bloom is dealt with as quickly and effectively as possible.


Specially selected microbes have been applied to the body of water. The biological process can take several weeks or even longer depending on the severity. The first treatment took place on 9 February 2016 and will continue over several months.

This situation is being closely monitored and Ngwenya Lodge assures you that it is doing everything in its power to deal with the situation quickly, efficiently and in an environmentally friendly way.

Checking in procedures: In the interest of safety, security and ensuring that only confirmed guests are allowed access to the resort, you will be required to produce both the reservation confirmation / guest certificate and your ID, and also to complete the indemnity form when checking into the resort.

Guest certificates: In the event that you areallowing a guest to occupy your timeshare week, the guest must be in possession of a valid Guest Certificate which is obtainable from Head Office prior to the guest's arrival.

Levy payments: Levies must be paid in terms of the Use Agreement and no occupation or usage of any form is allowable until the levies have been paid. (This applies to usage, spacebanking, renting etc. of the timeshare week.)

Spacebanking and rentals: Please note that a request for spacebanking or rental, must be submitted to Property Admin a minimum of five months prior to the occupation date, to enable us to process same. Communication: To enable us to communicate effectively, please ensure that you keep us updated regarding your current contact details, and most importantly, your email address.

Occupation dates: Please note that resort calendars are linked to school holidays, and it is therefore vital that you check the annual calendar to ensure that you occupy the correct week.

New tar road!

We are excited to announce that the tar road leading to Ngwenya Lodge is finally complete.
The 8km long internal access road has recently been tarred as part of an extensive project to improve the quality of the provincial and internal roads leading to the Lodge. As the previous road was often difficult to navigate, we are pleased to be able to provide our guests with an easier and more comfortable trip to the Lodge.
We would like to thank our loyal guests for enduring the old, bumpy gravel road. While we will miss the adventure of the trip into Ngwenya, we are sure you will enjoy the smoother ride.
