shashedap2018After hearing many wonderful stories about Ngwenya Lodge, we decided to try it out for ourselves. Proved to be a truly amazing timeout with nature . The resort and surroundings were beautiful. Will definitely visit again” – January 2018 (TripAdvisor)

Fantastic views from the patio of the unit. So many animals to see. We were did not want to leave when the holiday came to an end.
We will be booking again very soon and look forward to going back” – January 2018 (TripAdvisor)

JessBWe loved our two night stay for our second anniversary. The view from our room was beautiful, we had a River View unit. Huge, private balcony overlooking the river.” – January 2018 (TripAdvisor)

Charl G: “So regarding the food, no questions asked. It's beyond amazing! The stack burger and their pizzas are out of this world! Highly recommend for food fanatics! Don't have any comments on the service as yet but so far, the service seems great!” – January 2018 (TripAdvisor)

Juliem: “Great view of crocodile river while enjoying a cocktail and pizza on the deck. They have different theme nights, and is a good idea to book. Went a few times for pizza snacks and cocktails in the afternoons and dinner one night. Very friendly staff.” – December 2017 (TripAdvisor)

Annali K: “What a lovely dinner this turned out to be. The food was excellent, service was great and overall a great experience. Management was very flexible when we asked for a few extras and they get 5 stars for that. Chicken kebabs, pork belly and the Greek salad were prepared excellently. The food really compares very well to many a gourmet restaurants dishes. Thank you very much Riaan and management, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.” – December 2017 (TripAdvisor)

UwaisP: “Was the most revitalising trip ever especially how stunning the scenery was. Our cabin was right by the hide which made it even more stunning. The most amazing thing is that it's directly opposite the Kruger National Park.” –   February 2017 (TripAdvisor)

Angelika H: “The perfect Resort to book for a Kruger Park visit. We stayed here for seven days in a beautifully two bedroom self-catering unit, with pond view. The Resort offers many pools, tennis courts, mini golf and game viewing hides with lovely walkways. Only 15 minutes away from Crocodile Bridge Gate of the KNP; well worth a visit and stay. We come here every year and have never been disappointed. Room Tip: Pond View Cottages are great, but river view is super for game viewing.” –   February 2017 (TripAdvisor)

RiichardK:  This is our third visit and still an awesome place. Excellent service and stunning facilities. Restaurant with viewing deck serves the best pizza and breakfasts. Units are well-equipped and clean. The staff is always friendly and helpful. We enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and the wife loves the Spa. Excellent views into the Kruger National Park from the viewpoints. A short drive and you in the Kruger National Park. .” –   February 2017 (TripAdvisor)

fs30: “Breath-taking river views from HB 01, located so close to the river, you can hear the rapids.  Wildlife at your doorstep. Well-appointed unit, spacious, clean and comfortable. Four bedrooms and four bathrooms, with washing machine and dryer. This Resort just never fails to entertain both children and adults. Friendly and courteous staff. We will always return! ” –  January 2017 (TripAdvisor)

OBwun2014: “The self-catering chalet we stayed in overlooks the River and sleeps Eight – three bedrooms, two bathrooms, one en suite; kitchen, dining, lounge and covered patio with braai. Cleaning service every day except Sunday, but you can pay extra if you require that as well. The rooms are all air conditioned and also have ceiling fans. There are a few swimming pools on the grounds, with a shop for essentials, laundry if you need, children's room, games, putt-putt, trampolines, and even tennis courts. The [Le Fera] Restaurant and Bar are overlooking the River, if you feel the need not to cook.  The highlight of the position being on the River is that the Kruger Park starts at the edge of our balcony, so wild life can be directly under where you are standing. Looking over the River we often saw Elephant, lots of Buck and even Rhino, a vast assortment of bird life as well. It is about 8km to the Crocodile Bridge Entrance into the Kruger Park, so up and off early into the Park is a must. This year we were very lucky in the Park as we actually saw all of the Big Five and much more. The highlight of the trip being a Cheetah and her cubs and the rarest sighting of all was a Honey Badger.  If you get the opportunity to go, then I would highly recommend this as a destination.    Room Tip: Try and get a chalet on the river. .” – January 2017 (TripAdvisor)

Kobus P: “This place is a wonderful place to stay. Good and friendly reception. This was our fifth visit to the Lodge. Accommodation excellent. Nice walkways between the houses and next to the River good hideaways to watch the animals and birds. The gardens are beautiful and swimming pools are sparkling and inviting. A place to be when you want to relax from all your troubles and work stress. .” –   January 2017  (TripAdvisor)

Eldridge S: “This is a place for everyone... let me start with the arrival, the Reception area is neat and on our arrival there were welcome drinks and refreshments for the kids as well. The unit we stayed in was Unit 443 and what a beautiful and clean place. Our person who cleaned our unit was helpful and friendly her name is Anna (Not Anna Mgomezulu) what a friendly person. The Lodge itself is a place for adults and kids; my two daughters enjoyed themselves to the fullest every day at the Games Room and at the five pools that the Lodge has. We were close to one of the many viewing decks and had a relaxing time there seeing all kinds of animals on the banks of the Crocodile River. Seeing into the Kruger was delightful.  Enjoyed waking up every day to the sounds of birds of all kinds.  Birdlife abundant. Thanks again to the Ngwenya Staff and Anna for making our stay beautiful. Room Tip: Look for the River facing Units .” –   January 2017  (TripAdvisor)

Rosanne F: “We visited Ngwenya Lodge for a week. Our unit was well equipped, clean, serviced daily, air-conditioned and so beautifully appointed on the Crocodile River. Access to Kruger National Park was an easy 15 minute drive. When not viewing game we enjoyed walks around the lodge, swimming and viewing game and birds from three hides on the River. Our last meal in their Restaurant was delicious. We will return! Room Tip: River frontage is lovely but units facing ponds are also good. .” –   January 2017 (TripAdvisor)

Yacoobvr: “We visit once or twice a year and love it there.  The position of the Lodge and easy access to the Crocodile River Gate is awesome, even just chilling at the Lodge itself … sitting in the hides etc. is so much fun .” –  January 2017 (TripAdvisor)

paullinde : “We had the most amazing view of the Kruger Park and a 180 degrees of the Crocodile River, hippo, crocodile, elephant, rhino, waterbuck and the most amazing collection of birds all day long. Clean resort, efficient Reception, helpful staff to offload our supplies and provide daily cleaning service.  Acceptable restaurant and other amenities. What a fantastic way to relax and recharge for the new year! I will definitely return to this paradise in the bushveld. Room Tip: Upper level facing the river is where I will book again .” –  January 2017 (TripAdvisor)

postscript65: “Overlooking the Crocodile River, from which the Resort takes its name; gardens are exceptional and the thatched chalets all have a river or lakeside view. It is mainly for self-catering travellers but there is a Restaurant, several pools, tennis courts and children's entertainment. Great base for the Kruger Park or for the lazy or lucky, the game comes to the River on the opposite bank.” –   January 2017  (TripAdvisor)

Katelstraat: “Ngwenya Lodge is one of those places that gives you that special "I'm in Africa" experiences. It’s on the bank of the Crocodile River looking into the great Kruger National Park. It's very well equipped for self-catering but also has a great restaurant. Very very important to bring a pair of good binoculars otherwise you lose out on great game viewing and bird watching.” – January 2017

Mrmark: Great location, good access to park "Recently stayed at Ngwenya for the first time. Booked a timeshare rental mid-week and we booked a 3 bed unit. Unit was in the back row near to the tennis court, swimming pool and a game viewing hide, but was upstairs so we overlooked the row of chalets in front and had a perfect view of the river, unit 532 I think. Chalet itself is very comfortable with all you need for a self-catering bush holiday, including a dishwasher and a large patio with braai/BBQ. From our balcony we watched elephants, hippo, buck and giraffe come down to the river to drink. The resort has a great viewing deck for game viewing, a couple viewing hides along the water, tennis, swimming, mini golf and a great kids play zone. We ate at the restaurant a few times which was very reasonably priced and wait the staff were exceptional. It took about 10 mins to drive to the Crocodile Bridge gate at Kruger Park, 15 mins to Komatiepoort and about 25 mins to Malelane. Location is ideal and I would definitely book Ngwenya again if I was staying in this neck of the woods!" - 15 July 2014 (TripAdvisor)

Pride of Place

Good Day

When GRC announced in 2011 that VRS was taking over management of Ngwenya Lodge, I was somewhat sceptical to say the least.  Since then, after a few initial hiccups, you have shown yourselves to be professional, efficient and more than worthy of the appointment.

Congratulations on a job well done!  I look forward to your continued good services.

Dit is n behoefte van my hart om u te komplimenteer.Ek is n eienaar van twee eenhede by Ngwenya.

OUR FAMILY STAY AT NGWENYA  - Anne de Witt, May 2013

Hi Diederik,
Well, at last I have time to get to emailing you.
I hope that you are well.
I have so often thought of the time my four brothers and I spent at Ngwenya and my brothers still to this day (even this morning Pat from Melbourne in Australia emailed and commented on what fabulous memories of our time he has with you all at Ngwenya).
The staff could not have been more helpful at all times and there was always a smileYou, in particular, went out of your way to keep checking on us to ensure that all was in orderNothing seemed to be too much trouble.
The work which has now been completed within the development was very obvious, in particular the paved road in from the entranceWhat a pleasure also that the Committee has won the battle to get the road in to the gate tarred, where quite a few of us lost complete types, rims, everything in the pastNone of that now!
I love the fact that there are now four or five (is it?) 'bat hotels' at Ngwenya. The main and perhaps original one which just happens to be outside my unit 315, is a great gathering spot for folk to chat, share sightings and have fun in the evening while the bats get ready to take flightYou should consider opening a bottle of champagne at that spot one of the evenings during the week.
I got lucky one morning when, instead of going into the Park, I went to sit at the view site near the Restaurant and there across the River was a family of four lionMummy and Daddy and their two cubsThey hung around for quite a while.  I believe that in Winter it really isn't that necessary to go into the Park because the game is so prolific at Ngwenya, even down to Cheetah, leopard and, of course, elephant, hippo, buffalo and rhino, including the odd kill.  A few crocs hanging about too.  My brother saw what looked like a Martial Eagle early one morning, parked on the bank close to where I saw the lions.
This is one timeshare which to me is worth it's weight in gold and I look forward to my next visit. Pity it will only be next year.
Please thank all members of staff from all of us for making our time there such a happy visit.
We did feel special.
Many thanks and kind regards,
Anne de Witt

TripAdvisor review - "What a great surprise!!":

I have been using tripadvisor to plan my holidays for a while now, but never posted on it. After our annual 2 week easter trip, I decicded to post my experiences as well. We stayed in the Kruger at various camps and - the Kruger is the Kruger.... During the easter week end, we went in to Komatipoort to buy supplies. At the Spar, we were contemplating about Wimpy, Wimpy or Wimpy for lunch, since all else seemed to be closed on a Sunday. A lady walking past us in the aisle overheard and suggested we try Ngwenya Lodge for lunch.  Having seen the sign often during our past visits, we were not sure whether day visitors are allowed and the dirt road scared us off. We were assured that we will be welcome and that there is a lovely tarred road all the way. Arriving at the resort we were welcomed by a friendly security lady, who gave us directions to the restaurant with a stern reminder to have our gate pass stamped, or we might not be let out again- with a smile. Should have thrown the damn thing away! My husband took a turn where he should'nt have, but we had a chance to look at some beautiful chalets, in an area, we later heard, was called Hippo Bend. We ended up at reception and were again received warmly. There we received very precise instructions to the restaurant, which even my husband managed to get right. What a stunning place!! The view from the restaurant was unreal! At the front door, we could see the place was packed. There were no tables available at all. Just one, that had a reserved sign on it. The manager gave us a seat on some leather couches, where we ordered drinks and could smell the food about 10m away. I was drooling. After about half a drink, the manager came to tell us, that he phoned the people that the reserved table was for, and they will not be coming to eat. We got a table and a ticket from Steven for the buffet and fell in the queue. It was like 3 Sunday lunches at home in the old days, all at once! Man, my husband had about 1.2kg as main course and I went for seconds with the venison pie.

We realy liked the pay by weight, after we thought about it for a while. No wastage and you only pay for what you get. What a great surprise this was. After lunch we sneaked around the resort for a while. Beautiful! We went back to the restaurant and the manager gave us some numbers for the marketing office.

The resort is beautifully kept and after talking to some other guests, walking past, we decided that this will be our place on our next game reserve trip, if we can find a spot......

Thank you very much...Lady from Spar!

'n Pragtige plek om uit te span en van jou stoep af al die wild, olifante en roofdiere, wat kom waterdrink, te besigtig.

Ngwenya Lodge... What a place to stay for a holiday. Very, very nice! Only a few hours here and we've spotted 3 of Africa's Big 5 animals from our back stoop at unit nr 5. Elephant, rhino and buffalo only a few meters from us... What an amazing experience! Thank you to all the friendly and helpful staff members of Ngwenya Lodge. You will definitely see me again.

"We love Ngwenya Lodge...need to go back soon! Nothing better than sitting on the large verandah, with the bi-noculars, and being able to see such a wonderful variety of game and wild animals. Some days, no need to go through to the Kruger, 9kms away, as the park comes to the Ngwenya visitor. A wonderful place to revisit from time to time." - 2 April 2013

"Ngwenya is a great place to kick back and relax. Chill by one of the many pools or take in a long drink while sitting at the restaurant peering over the river into the Kruger. But what makes it all worth it, and brings it all together? That would be doing those things in the company of great friends and family." - 30 April 2013

"Each year we visit Ngwenya Lodge where we have been privilaged to have time share for many years. Not once have we come away disappointed. It's an incredible lodge with wonderful people, amazingly run and if anyone who has ever visited the lodge and has not enjoyed themselves, then they honestly do not know how to rest, relax and simply take in all the beauty the lodge and it's surroundings has to offer. So thankful we joined when we did and we congratulate the Lodge being awarded Gold Crown status for 2013 at the RCI awards. Well done yet again. Rodney and Astrid Beeton." -  01 May 2013

"This year is our 20th anniversary that we have enjoyed time share at Ngwenya Lodge. I have never come away being disappointed other than, that an extra week would not hurt.
I have always come away feeling rested and mostly enjoy being away from the every day hustle and bustle of city life. (the place to go and forget that one has another life outside of Ngwenya)
Ngwenya offers so much and the choice is yours to decide whatever it is you want to take from the lodge and it's stunning surroundings.
I congratulate Ngwenya Lodge being awarded Gold Crown status at the 2013 RCI Awards. Well done and keep going forward with all the wonderful staff you have on board.
See you again this September'13 same time, same place for what i know will be another well awarded holiday.
Best site at Chalet 80 - would not change for anything"
